RULES

Every event or race (we use the term interchangeably) has to have some rules, regardless of whether or not they are actually enforced. So, we’ve tried our best to list the rules that you need to know as a team captain and as a team member.

Team Captains

  • A team captain can be just about anybody. A corporate employee, a running club president, a head of household, the leader of a friend group etc, etc.
  • All team captains must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of registration.
  • All team captains must register on-line by clicking on the “create a team” icon for the chosen event in order to be officially entered and eligible to participate.

Team Members

  • Team members can be any age (must be 21 years old of course to drink alcohol) and be from any walk of life. A company team may consist of 27 corporate employees. A running club team may consist of 11 running club members. A social group team may consist of 11 family members and 7 friends. You get the point. All team members 10 years old or younger are free and don’t have to register.
  • All team members must register on-line by clicking on the “join a team” icon for the chosen event in order to be officially entered and eligible to participate.
  • A team member must determine at the time of his/her on-line registration, whether he/she is going to be timed or not.
  • Any issues regarding a team member’s eligibility shall be determined by CFR. All CFR decisions will be final.
  • Each team member must affirmatively declare that he/she are medically fit to participate in the CFR Weekend 5k event, agree to all race disclosures and on-line waivers, acknowledge and abide by all the rules and regulations provided on this website and read carefully and check the “I agree” box upon registering for the CFR event.

AWARD ELIGIBILITY

  • In order to be eligible for team awards, a team must have either 3 timed male team members or 3 timed female team members. A team with less than 3 timed male or female team members can still qualify for individual awards. Thus, a male company, club or social team must have at least three chip timed male team members in order to qualify for awards and a female company, club or social team must have at three chip timed female team members in order to qualify for awards. In addition, we will be handing out a race night trophy to the largest team, the team with the best tee shirt and the most successful fundraising team.

SPECIFIC RACE DAY RULES

  • Before the event, team captains will be sent very important race morning information. It is their responsibility to forward on this information to its team members.
  • All participants must wear their assigned race numbers. Anyone found wearing another person’s race number will be disqualified from the race.
  • Race numbers must be clearly visible on the front of the torso during the race, displayed in full view, and may not be folded or cut in any way.
  • Walker Policy: Walkers are equally welcome as runners but must start in the back of the field and if walking on a 2 loop course, stay to the right, single file on the second loop.
  • Roller skates, roller blades, skateboards and bicycles are strictly prohibited. Depending on the race course and race venue, baby joggers, strollers and animals maybe allowed. Please contact Bruce Pienkny at [email protected]to determine allowance.
  • All events are rain or shine, and all event fees are non-refundable even in the case of event cancellation.
  • No paper-form registrations are allowed except on race night. All team and team member registrations must be completed on-line.
  • CFR reserves the right to reject, disqualify, and/or remove any team member, team captain, guest or company team whose conduct either prior to, during, or after the CFR race is inappropriate to the spirit of the event. Individual disqualification may lead to the disqualification of the entire team and/or organization at future CFR events. It is expected that team captains, team members and guest will represent their organization in a sportsman like and professional manner.
  • Each participating organization is responsible for the actions of its team captain, team members and guests, and shall be held liable for any wrongdoing conducted by its team captain, team members and guests and shall fully indemnify CFR for any claims, actions or liability incurred by CFR due to the conduct of such organization’s team captain, team members or guests.
  • CFR reserves in its sole discretion that right to delay, postpone, cancel or not officially time any race for any reason or no reason, including but not limited to adverse weather conditions or any other dangerous conditions. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable, even in the case of event cancellation for any reason or for no reason but not limited to adverse weather conditions or any other dangerous conditions.
  • CFR shall not be responsible nor liable for any team captains, team members or guests personal items for any reason. Each individual participant is responsible for safekeeping his/her own property.
  • All rules are subject to interpretation by CFR. All decisions by CFR management are final.
